Appalachian Translational Research Network

The WVCTSI is a member of the Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN). The ATRN, co-sponsored by the University of Kentucky and the Ohio State University, is a CTSA Consortium research network, and also includes, Marshall University, Morehead State University, Ohio University, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Pikeville and recently the WVCTSI.

All of the ATRN institutions are dedicated to enhancing research collaborations and seeking new avenues to address the significant health challenges and health disparities in Appalachia. This area continues to rank among the highest nationally for incidence of disease in multiple categories and also the highest in terms of economic distress, low educational achievement, and poor quality of life.

The ATRN is committed to addressing the significant health challenges, chronic health conditions, and disparities specific to Appalachia by enhancing research collaborations to speed the translation of scientific discoveries to health improvements for this region. The ATRN seeks to foster community engagement and outreach to those in the Appalachian region.
