The Ohio State University

The goals of the Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science and the WVCTSI are parallel especially as it pertains to the Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN), co-sponsored by CTSAs at The Ohio State University and University of Kentucky, engaging the University of Cincinnati CTSA, as well as a strong network of regional universities (Marshall University, Morehead State University, University of Pikeville, Ohio University).

The Community Engagement (CE) Program of the OSUCCTS and the Community Engagement and Outreach (CEO) Program of the WVCTSI have engaged in a partnership designed to stimulate collaboration between the respective campuses as well as increase community engaged research, in the Appalachian region.

This will encourage the formation of new interdisciplinary research teams between OSU and WVU addressing integrated solutions for translational problems improving human health. These opportunities will foster innovative new tools for clinical research, the expansion of translational research, and establishment of new investigative partnerships.

It is expected that through generation of preliminary data, future pilot funding will facilitate researchers in acquiring extramural support for new and expanded research efforts focusing on functional aspects of translating empirical evidence into community-based interventions.

Past projects funded were be led by Yvonne Efebera, M.D., of OSU and Mehdi Hamadani, M.D., of WVU. Read more...
