Fellows Research Academy

The Fellows Research Academy (FRA) was developed to support the professional development of early career physicians in their Fellowship training by enhancing their research experience. You will learn about the numerous elements that contribute to conducting ethical clinical and translational research. The curriculum is designed to provide participants with a wide range of skills needed to conduct research, ranging from identification of an important research question, managing collaboration as a leader of a research team, to crafting grant proposals to publishing your findings.

This will be a highly interactive program and will provide you with opportunities to meet and network with your peers across multiple specialties and disciplines. While the West Virginia Clinical Translation Science Institute (WVCTSI) FRA has defined expectations for participants in terms of grant and/or manuscript preparation, the goal of this program is to advance your knowledge of and experience with the research process, so you are well prepared for life-long learning as clinical and translational research produces advances in medicine.

FRA Curriculum

Eligibility

The FRA Program accepts nominations from fellowship program directors for Fellows in all years of their fellowship training program. However, Fellows who will be having a second year of training will be eligible to apply for a $10,000 Fellows Research Pilot Grant Award near the end of the academic year to conduct the proposed research in year two of the FRA Program. This will be a competitive grant application process limited to FRA Fellows who have identified a Mentor/Co-PI; these grant are for Non-Clinical Trials only.
