Resubmission A1 Grant Writing Group

A facilitated grant writing group (GWG) program is being held to assist WVCTSI faculty members with development and submission of a NIH R01, R21, R03 research grant or a NIH Mentored Career Development Training Award (K-series) in clinical and/or translational sciences for the July 2024 deadlines (R01 submission: July 5, 2024; R03, R15 and R21 submission: July 16, 2024; K Award submissions: July 12, 2024).  The GWG will meet to review the initial submission (A0) Summary Statement, identify strategies needed to address concerns raised by the prior review, develop a well-written one-page INTRODUCTION for the revised application, and obtain feedback and editorial assistance on the revised required sections of the grant application. As an important feature of the Resubmission A1 GWG program participants will provide peer-to-peer feedback to their group members and, in turn, receive constructive feedback to support the development of their own resubmission application.

An application is required for participation in the WVCTSI Resubmission A1 grant writing group program.

Applications should include the following:

  • Summary Statement from the A0 study section review
  • A draft of the A1 Specific Aims
  • An up-to-date NIH Biosketch
  • A letter of commitment stating that the participant will attend the ~ twice monthly sessions, provide feedback to fellow participants, and if eligible as a WVU faculty member agree to submit a complete draft of the A1 application for review to the WVU HSC Resubmission A1 Internal Study Section (A letter of commitment stating that the participant will attend the twice monthly sessions, provide feedback to fellow participants.  All sessions will be held online via Zoom on  Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm beginning March 19, 2024). A full schedule is found here.

Applications are now being accepted for the Resubmission A1 GWG through March 15, 2024.
