Mentorship Development Program
The WVCTSI Mentorship Development Program (MDP) offers workshops to develop and enhance mentoring relationships for faculty who are currently conducting clinical and translational research. The MDP program will also provide workshops geared toward mentees who are looking to enhance their skills to become a more effective mentee.
Participation in Level 1 trainings is strongly encouraged prior to participating in Level 2 trainings.

Entering Mentoring as a Research Mentee
Level 1: Effective Communication Skills for Achieving Research Success and Independence
When: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on below dates
- February 6: The Importance of Mentoring & Maintaining Effective Communication
- February 13: Aligning Expectations
- February 20: Promoting Professional Development
- February 27: Achieving Independence
Level 2: Understanding the Collaborative Team Science Environment for Preparing to Be a Mentor
When: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on below dates
- March 6: Understanding Personal Differences in the Research Environment
- March 13: Building and Sustaining Collaboration in Team Science
- March 20: Developing Your Independence in Research
- March 27: Preparing to be a Mentor
Completion of Mentee Development Programs Level 1 and Level 2 will enable participants to receive a Certificate of Mentee Development (16 hours). Note: Levels may be completed in any order. CE credits are available for these trainings.
Developing and Enhancing Your Skills as a Research Mentor
Level 1: Setting Goals and Expectations & Supporting Professional Development of Mentees
Virtual interactive sessions offered February 13 or March 6 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Level 2: Maintaining Effective Communication for Collaboration & Fostering Independence of Mentees
Virtual interactive sessions offered February 27 or March 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Completion of the Mentor Development Programs Level 1 and Level 2 will enable participants to receive a Certificate of Mentor Development (4 hours). Note: Levels may be completed in any order. CE credits are available for these trainings.
